Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technical Artist with a strong background in Unity animation, 3D character workflows, and real-time animation integration. This role focuses on creating, implementing, and optimizing animations within Unity while ensuring high-quality visuals, smooth runtime performance, and efficient production workflows.

The ideal candidate combines hands on animation and rigging expertise with technical problem-solving skills. They will work closely with artists, animators, and engineers to develop animation systems, improve workflows, troubleshoot integration issues, and ensure 3D assets perform effectively in a real-time environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, implement, and optimize animations for 3D characters, environments, user interfaces, and visual effects within Unity.
• Develop and maintain efficient animation pipelines from asset creation and rigging through integration and runtime implementation.
• Prepare and optimize 3D models, rigs, skin weights, and animation files for use in Unity.
• Integrate animation assets into Unity and troubleshoot issues related to rigging, deformation, transitions, playback, and runtime behavior.
• Support animation retargeting, rig standards, compression settings, and other technical workflows to improve animation quality and performance.
• Collaborate with artists, animators, and engineers to ensure animation assets meet visual, technical, and performance requirements.
• Develop and maintain Unity tools and workflows that streamline animation production, asset validation, and repetitive tasks.
• Optimize animation assets, textures, materials, and related content to improve memory usage, loading times, and overall runtime performance.
• Troubleshoot complex animation and asset integration issues and implement solutions that improve production efficiency.
• Establish animation standards, technical documentation, and best practices for consistent content delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality animation work within established timelines.

Qualifications & Experience

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience working with Unity.
• At least 3 years of game development experience, with meaningful involvement in technical art, animation implementation, or animation pipeline development.
• Strong understanding of 3D animation principles, character rigging, skin weighting, and animation integration.
• Experience creating and preparing animation assets for real-time applications.
• Proficiency with Unity and 3D animation software such as Maya or Blender.
• Familiarity with Unity animation workflows, asset importing, prefab systems, and runtime optimization.
• Understanding of character animation pipelines, rigging standards, animation retargeting, and animation performance optimization.
• Basic scripting knowledge, preferably C#, with Python or MEL experience considered a plus.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or Perforce is beneficial.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Portfolio demonstrating 3D animation, Unity implementation, character workflows, or technical art contributions.
